About Campus Challenge

       Campus Challenge is a rehabilitation center for poor differently abled children and youth living in coastal Andhrapradesh. It was established in the year 2009 by FriendsIndeed, the Netherlands and in 2014 The Alumni of Sainik School Korukonda join hands to serve these poor and needy children.

       There are about 1000 children with different vulnerabilities are identified in the remote fishing and tribal villages. At the Campus Challenge 150 children are taken care of, by providing Food, shelter, Education and Taught Livelihood. The other 850 children get Medical assistance at their door step via Outreach program

Campus Challenge is a unique place following the cross disability concept. It is a ‘Four in One’ program. Shortly:

  • The Village with 10 homes is a community with 150 orphaned and semi-orphaned disabled children and youth
  • The inclusive and special School, with English Medium up to 10th class for Locomotor, Hearing, Visual and intellectually challenged children
  • The Youth department: vocational training like Stitching, Carpentry, Print shop, Computer training and Horticulture for 30 youngsters.
  • The Health Care Centre: with the outreach team , physiotherapy, Orthopedic workshop, ADL Training, Speech therapy for a total of 150 + 850 = 1000 children

The children’s Village is a unique community, where the children, youth and their caretakers live in good harmony. Because: when everybody has a handicap, nobody has a handicap! The children are in the age group of 5 – 17. Youth are in the age of 18 – 25.The children village works like a residential home as per:

  • The licenses and laws of the government
  • The CBR Guidelines (New Delhi 2010)
  • United Nation Convention for Persons with a Disability (New York 2006)
  • The Campus Manual
